Swaziland Day Tour

swaziland

The Kingdom of Swaziland is the best example of a country living in the old African traditions and beliefs, where history and tradition are carefully taken into the 21 century.

We cross the Swaziland border at the Jeppe’s Reef. A scenic drive along Maguga damwall leads us to the “Sobhuza II” memorial enclosure which bring a tribute to the King who led the Swazi nation to independence in 1968. We visit the Ngwenya glassfactory where a group of Swazi craftsmen – with age old artistry – breathe life into enchanting interpretations of animals and birds of Africa crafted from recycled glass collected by the people of Swaziland.

The Swazi nation is well known for their crafts. Another opportunity to watch them at work is following the entire process of candle making. From the gentle softening of the two waxes, the deliberate moulding of each candle to the final trimmings. Each candle maker copies form and shape from photos then instills his own character into each individual piece. Lunch at Malandelas which is an uniquely creative venue offering experiences that will inspire the imagination and refresh the spirit. (own account)
